I came into tutoring after working as a psychology teaching assistant, so I’m used to explaining the same idea in several different ways when the textbook version isn’t clicking. I’ve now tutored A-Level Psychology for five years. Lessons are fairly relaxed but we do a lot of active work: recalling studies from memory, comparing theories and marking answers together. Research methods usually gets extra attention before exams.

I’m a Psychology graduate with three years of tutoring experience and still remember quite clearly what it was like revising such a content-heavy A-Level. I mainly teach through discussion and questions rather than long presentations. For topics like approaches and issues and debates, I like getting students to explain the argument back to me before we write anything. It quickly shows which parts genuinely make sense.

I have over ten years’ experience teaching A-Level Psychology and have also been involved in examining, which has shaped the way I approach written responses. My sessions place particular emphasis on interpreting command words, using evidence accurately and making evaluation relevant to the question. Forensic psychology is a personal favourite, although I teach across the full A-Level course.
